Clinical Exercise Classes (Pilates and Resilience)
We are excited to offer 2 new classes commencing in June 2020. All classes will have a maximum of 4 participants to enforce social distancing and allow greater supervision. All classes can be claimed and require an initial one-on-one consultation first. Please confirm with your health fund to ensure you are covered for physio exercise classes.
We have two types of classes currently available:
Clinical Mat Based Exercise Class - Monday 10am with Georgia
Rehab & Resilience Class - Thursday 530pm with Cayla
Our mat-based exercise classes focuses on the development and endurance of the deep core muscles. The overall goal of these classes is to prevent future episodes of pain recurring and improve core activation. These classes are seen as a safe way to correctly load the joints and muscles, while putting them under progressive tension.
Who will benefit most from this class?
If you have recurrent episodes of back pain are looking for ways to prevent future episodes.
If hands-on treatment only provides temporary relief, and you would like more long-lasting relief.
If ceasing your usual exercise or gym routine has resulted in an increase in pain.
If you’ve had a trauma (e.g. childbirth or surgery) which has resulted in a loss of core activation.
What are the benefits for regularly attending mat classes?
Postural support: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or on the couch will almost certainly result in a decline in posture, leaving you with aches and pains. Stretching out these areas and re developing the strength in the weaker areas is a great postural tool.
Post injury/ surgery recovery: a great way to transition back to your regular movement is to develop your strength and balance in a safe and smooth exercise class.
Pregnancy: a specific program designed to target pregnancy related pains and conditions
Balance/ stability: Pilates and other similar classes such as our clinical mat based exercise classes have been shown to decrease the rate at which the muscles age, and in turn can slow down and even improve an individual’s level of stability and balance. This being a very important piece of the puzzle as we get older and become more sedentary.
Tailored class: these classes will be run with a maximum or 4 people in a class, which allows our physios to not only make specific changes to the exercises plan for each person, but also maximise the time the physio spends with each individual.
Improves your form: Our physiotherapists can teach you correct movement patterns and techniques to help reduce strain throughout the day
Rehab and Resilience Class
Our Rehab classes focus on getting you to 100%. If you have had hands-on treatment but you haven’t yet hit your baseline then these rehab classes can help get you there. The goal of our rehab classes is to get back to where you were BEFORE you got injured and build resilience.
Who will benefit most from this class?
If you have persistent pain but have not fully recovered yet.
If you have postural imbalances
If you have chronic pain
If you have an underlying weakness contributing to your pain
What is the difference between a rehab class and a regular physio session? A standard visit to a physiotherapist may combine assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and preventative exercises all in the one session. These classes focus on the progression of exercise with strength training based around your exercises goals. To amplify the positive effects of targeted exercise, sessions will incorporate the use of laser therapy. This can help fast-track improvements to balance, muscular awareness, strength, and flexibility.
