What to expect on your initial appointment
Your initial session will involve a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the extent of the injury, develop a treatment plan and establish goals. Our first aim of treatment is to decrease acute pain, inflammation and swelling to ensure a speedy recovery. Our second aim is to develop a specific rehabilitation program tailored to your needs to ensure correct technique and appropriate return to sport. This can include improving flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, coordination or muscular imbalances through manual techniques including joint mobilisations and massage, electrotherapy, exercises, dry needling, taping and laser therapy.
The final aim is to educate you on how to maintain your performance gains and avoid re-injury.
If you do sustain a sporting injury it is best to contact the team at Artarmon Physiotherapy for an appointment within the first 48- 72 hours (acute phase) to optimise recovery and get you off the sideline!
